American Eastlake Carved Walnut Cylinder Desk, c. 1890, the stepped sloping rectangular top over a cylinder top opening to a pull out baize writing surface, and fitted drawers and cubbyholes, on a base with two frieze drawers, on turned tapered octagonal legs with porcelain casters, H.- 48 in., W.- 43 in., D.- Closed- 26 in., Open- 35 in.


  • Condition: Condition consistent with age and use. Normal signs of wear and tear throughout including minor scratches, chips, and scuffs. There are two water marks on the very top of the desk, on the proper left side near the rear. Cylinder top works smoothly. Drawers work smoothly. Chips in front of bottom drawers and front of legs, possibly from where a chair may have been pushed in and out. Sturdy. Appears to be recently re-felted. Two flecks of white paint to front. One key present. There is a rectangular notch cut into the proper left front of the cylinder top. Wear to finish on left side of proper right front panel of cylinder, near center bar. A fine example.
