Attributed to William Buck (1840-1888, Louisiana / Norway), "Covington Scene," 19th c., oil on canvas laid to board, presented in a gilt frame, H.- 19 1/2 in., W.- 29 1/4 in. NOTE: The scene in this painting was identified by local historian as the town of Covington in background, along the banks of Tchefuncte River. The building in the distance of the painting has also been identified as St. Peters Church, which is still standing today. The painting was originally restored by Phyllis Hudson. Old restoration laid on board. Originally from an Old Metairie family.
