Russian Icon of the Virgin of Kazan, by Ivan Sergeyevich Lebedkin (1898-1914), Moscow, the 21K gold and enameled sterling oklad, marked "84," and "875," for the silver and gold content, on a gold velvet covered wooden back plate, H.- 12 3/8 in., W.- 10 1/2 in., D.- 1 1/4 in.


  • Condition: Condition consistent with age. Possible repainting to original icon. Heavy layer of varnish added, causing craqueler to exposed areas of icon. Separation cracks to wood, which has since been painted over. Inscription found on the icon, beneath oklad. Inscription also found on bottom proper left of oklad. A handsome example showing signs of restoration.
